I completed my pre-bk counseling on 8/4/09 and filed my petition with the court on 8/5/09. The counseling agency said that the certificate would be emailed within 2 business days. Well one week and 5 frustating phone calls to their support center later, I have finally received my certificate. Once I got it I looked it over and found that the counselor had dated it 8/9/09 because that is the day that he got around to completing the certificate. My account page on their website says that the course was completed on 8/4/09. I have to call the agency yet again tomorrow morning to try to get this figured out. It is frustrating because I can't get past the support operators. They take messages and relay them to the counselors and it take a lot of follow up on my part to get anything done. I have already burned through one week of my 15 days to file this with the court just waiting for the certificate to get to me. Does anyone have any advice or recourse if I am not able to get this handled soon? Thanks for reading.

I would log into your account page that shows the course was completed on the 4th, and print that out. Then attach that to the "certificate".8-07-09-filed Chapter 7

Thanks! I plan on attaching that along with a letter explaining the whole situation. I spoke with them today and they told me that it is their policy to date the certificates with the date that the counselor approves it rather than the day I completed it. They won't change it and told me if I have problems, that the judge or the trustee can subpeona(sp?) their internal records to see when I completed it online.
The wording in the certificate says "I certify that so-and-so received a briefing of blah-blah-blah on this day" It doesn't say anything about when the certificate was completed. I clearly received my briefing on 8/4 as I have not received any other info or education from them since that date. I argued this to no avail. So I guess I am at the mercy of the court now.
