    Credit Scores

I know I say this every time I post here but again, I thank everyone here who has taken the time to respond to my questions. I guess this is not really a question here but more like a comment. For so long I have been a slave to the so called "credit score" and oh no if I don't make my credit card payments and loan payments my credit will suffer. Well, no longer! If I was smart in the very beginning when my income was cut and could no longer afford all of the payments I would have quit paying on my credit cards and concentrated on only my house and cars! It was such a vicious cycle. I was always afraid of the cc companies raising my rates on me (which they did on me anyways in spite of always paying on time) and I needed those for the necessity of living! Yeah, I really did some living. I woke up every morning wishing I had not, racked my brains trying to figure on how to keep up with all of those payments, not ever ever having enough money to buy enough groceries for my family, and telling my son I could not afford to help with tuition costs. Yeah that was some kind of living. With all your advice here I'm taking the steps to "plan"my bankruptcy and begin a new way to live!

I quit paying when I went shopping for a car and realized that even with keeping everything current, my score (580) with no lates was roughly the same as someone who had posted a message on some board who had charge-offs.
I cringe everytime I see those ads for freecreditreport.com. That they've turned fear of id theft into a business just sucks. Break your chains.

        Nice try.

You can raise your credit score easily. It's your IQ I worry about.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick
