How long after ?

How long after your attorney files the petition does it take for the BK to show up on your credit reports.

I assume it would vary, but mine took about 5 days.

Mine appeared on all 3 major credit reporting agenies within 72 hours, over the weekend no less.

That I didn't even check. Our credit is so bad anyway after not paying cc, I don't know how it could be worse!

I don't think I looked at a credit report until about a year was left in my Chapter 13 plan.
The last thing I was thinking about until then was obtaining new credit (which was contrary to my trustee's allowances, anyway).
Since I hoped to obtain a mortgage as soon as possible AFTER DISCHARGE, knowing what's there a year out really made sense and did some good. Mission, accomplished! (3/09)

It depends it usually occurs before the 341 meeting though.

The reason I asked this,is I am moving to a different state in 2 weeks for a job and I need to get an apartment.My wife is staying here in our house until they foreclose we're surrendering house in BK7.We were going to file this week but I guess we'll wait until after I get the apt. since I know they'll pull a credit report and it seems the BK goes on there pretty quick.
