    Simple question about PACER

I am becoming obsessed with checking PACER and it is getting frustrating.

How often ( I mean REASONABLY often ) should I check it?

I am waiting to see what motion the TT files due to my being an asset case and I am now in the 60 day club.

    I am in Southern California.

    Thanks,

Very fortunate in the grand scheme of things but have learned my lesson.

    Filed 12/15/08, 341 1/12/09, Cont to 2/12/09, cont to 3/12/09, cont to 4/15/09, cont to 5/11/09, cont to 6/02/09. Discharged 9/16/09, Closed 10/23/09

I wouldn't check it more than once a day.

You'd probably do fine checking it Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Most of the courts update in the evenings I think between 5pm and 6pm their time.

      Hello, fellow pacer addict!!

I have found myself increasingly obsessed with checking pacer, especially after I noticed a document posted at about 2 pm (central time). So I am on there about five times a day checking the document listing.

I read somewhere on here that one of the posters had to add their pacer bill to their BK.

I am going to force myself to check only once a day until the 341. Really, I can stop. Really!

For most people, there is no real "need" for PACER. I went through BK in 01, when there was no such thing as PACER, and was just fine. But...I was an asset case this time, and there were things I was interested in that I couldn't see without PACER. For instance, I needed to make sure that Colorado filed a claim for my income taxes.

I say all this, but I became obsessed with checking PACER 3-4 times a day (worthless). Glad I'm over it now.

I had to seek therapy for my PACER addiction .

I wish they had a feature where you were automatically alerted by email when anything changed in your case. Kind of like credit alerts.

I bet some clever person out there could write a script that would auto check the status dates and email you when they changed.

I am an IT nimrod, I still think the internet is so freakin' amazing, how fast data can be acessed from all parts of the world.

Could your attorney possibly CC you on any electronic notices from PACER?

That might be a way to notified quickly w/o having to check daily.

My first bill of over $225 was my cure for my PACER addiction.

In the paperwork from the court after filing I received a note about "Going Green" and receiving notices from the court to my email for free, here is the address:

of course because i have been hearing about pacer this and pacer that I also signed up for pacer. I really didn't know what i was looking for. first i typed in my case number and it really just had our names and attorney/Judge/TT. The I thought I would look at some other cases the TT was involved in so I did a query, just picked a random person and looked at their stuff.. which felt very intrusive by the way
I didn't really see anything helpful so that was that..... UNTIL later that night when I thought just for the heck of it I would check it again.. now there were flags and a credit matrix...FLAG uh oh.. so of course back to BKForum I went LOL

anywhoo I filled out the info for the free site and just faxed the request so hopefully by next week I should get notice in my email of anything regarding my BK (requests/notices)

trying not to check pacer....cooome ON self control

although it would be nice just to go straight to your on case when you logged on to pacer and not have to do a search again..
Just to see what was new since last log... you know?

I can feel this obsession thing brewing...

Hopefully getting a bill would cure most of us. I didn't think I had accessed that much, until I got a bill for $38.00. no more pacer for me, unless I think something is going wrong with my plan. That's 38.00 better spent on something else.

That is cool, but does it send e notices of changes that don't necessarily warrant a mailing by the court, for example, when your case is closed or a report of no distribution entered by the trustee?

Seems like it only may trigger when a mailing would occur such as a deficiency notice or discharge order or other orders?

Have you received notices electronically of docket changes?

This is the Electronic Bankruptcy Noticing Center (or EBN short). They do NOT provide everything on the docket. The only thing you'll receive electronically, are things that are "electronically" served on you.

It will not deal with Claims notices, Appearance Notices, and a whole host of other things. The only thing I seem to get from the EBN are Orders, Motions, and Deficiency Notices that are served upon me.

Hmm.. no i suppose they do not cover all of that

Whatever you would get in the mail from the court they will send to your email instead..whatever that would be-i have yet to get anything soo?

But still, much faster than regular mail..esp. with notices/requests

                      either way I signed up

An interesting factoid... the Bankruptcy Court uses the BNC to send Order and Notices out. The BNC runs the Electronic Bankruptcy Notice center. Look at your docket sometime when you have an Order or other notice. You'll see things like "Chapter 13 Plan with Service via BNC ", and things like "BNC Certificate of Mailing - Order" , or "BNC Certificate of Mailing - Hearing Notice"

Those things tagged with "BNC" are the only things you'll ever get electronically from the BNC/EBN center.

If you don't have a cc when you register with pacer. You will get a bill in the mail, right? Don't they only bill every three months, right? You mean on pacer you can get your discharge papers on there too? Could you also go to the BK court house to get a copy if you don't get one in the mail....right? Gee....I'm jumping the gun...didn't even get to 341 yet and I have to do an audit! Just asking......

Yes, they bill credit card and "statement" customer every quarter.

I don't recommend getting copies from the Courthouse. They charge $0.50 per page as they are trying to stay "paperless" / green.

So...would your Lawyer get a copy of your discharge papers too? I need to change my address with the cts....my Lawyer said to do it the day of our 341 July 20th 09. Just easier than driving to dwntn Denver. He said there is not cost. Have you heard of a cost to do that?
