    Hey I resent this

Yes, I understand the forum exists for income and support and have no problem ignoring all the add chatter, but this one "galls" me.

"Bankruptcy is Stupid" by some online company.

How many times WE have been telling people that bk is a business decision and then have this glare at the top of the page.

I think some of these adds should be more scrutinized. 'Hub

Yeah, I think it was BigBoy who pointed this out about a week ago. It IS unnerving! I just try to tune out the ads because the forum probably doesn't have control over what ads are placed. People buy ads and attach certain key words and then Google places them randomly based on those key words. At least I think that's the "basic" way it works - I'm not very technical .

Anyway, try to ignore it and smile today!

I always smile. I get so many good smiles back. After all that I/we have been through, any day above ground is good. "BigBoy" is sharp. We have been out of touch for about two weeks so I missed that. I still resent that ad, and it takes wind out of our sails when we aid people in their distress and embarrassment, and then they refresh and get called "stupid" for bankruptcy. But I'll smile about it with gritted teeth. 'Hub

kinda annoys me too...maybe google puts an ad on their site recommending bankruptcy. Now that would be a hoot!

LOL! or one placed on the Dave Ramsey website! hehe

While bankruptcy is a way to legally erase some of your debt, it can also have lasting effects on your finances, including your ability to get a mortgage.

          Why Avoid Bankruptcy?
Bankruptcy is not something I recommend any more than I would recommend divorce. Are there times when good people see no way out and file bankruptcy? Yes, but I will still talk you out of bankruptcy if given the opportunity. Few people who have been through bankruptcy would report that it is a painless wiping-clean of the slate, after which you merrily trot off into your future to start fresh.

Oh, come on, you have to admit the humor in the Irony.

I have only seen the ad once. But there is only one person that controls that aspect of the board, Laz. (formely Lazar).

It's actualy somewhat difficult to control because the ad placement is based on keyword content, so it is difficult to filter the "good" bankruptcy ads from the bad.

I browse with Firefox with the adblock plus ad-on. I do not usually see any ads and the ones that occasionally do get through I right-click and add them to ad-block filter.

Actually I am glad they put it here. I am sure that they are paying for the privilege of placing their ads. Since they are a scum sucking debt reduction/consolidation company, it is costing them $ to put the ad in a place where most of us would NEVER secure their services and we will also warn others about them and their go-nowhere rip-off solutions. Perfect fit...just keep paying for those ads. Hee Hee!!

                  Ditto.
(it was that bk is stupid ad that finally made me use adblock)

I was just in General BK talk and responded to someone with a carpenter ant issue. All sorts of ant and pest ads popped up including using boric acid to eliminate ants. The ads are programmed to key words posted in this form.

The funny thing is, the people on this forum are the ones who know more than anyone that Bankruptcy is NOT stupid.

That ad is a waste of money.

If they keep up that advertising strategy, they'll be joining us here in no time.

There are advertisements??? Hmmm, how interesting. Never really noticed them. I must have a internal spam filter.

The ads are provided by Googles adsense. You can use their ad program for free. i.e. If you use blogger, you can add it to your blog( or any blog\website after u have an account).

They are a way for the owner of this forum to pay for this forum. Each time someone clicks on the ads the owner gets money. I have several blogs where I use adsense. The ads are mainly triggered by what the "conversation" is about on the board. I now make about $10.00 a day and have been learning SEO and internet marketing for about a year. Some people make a couple thousand a month. I wouldn't be surprised if this forum is one of those types of earners.

If you type"bankruptcy forum" into google. This site ranks #1 & 2 out of 13 million pages. If you ever wonder why someone creates an account here and then puts a link to somewhere else they are building "links" which is a part of Internet marketing and SEO.

Building links is the key.. thus a viagra link in a bankruptcy forum. lol

I wish I would have noticed the one on Dave Ramsey's website years ago. I don't see anything or untruthful with what Dave Ramsey has on his website.
Thank you all so much for all the information I have received on this forum.
