Id Theft wrecked my life and my Future

Hello to all. Well i will give alittle info on my situation, maybe i can get good advice since well no one where i live here in ohio can help. Here it goes

Two years ago from what i found out my Identity was stolen. I kept getting things in the mail from bill me later attempts to get credit and purchase laptops and all that stuff. and well that all added up on that credit report we hate so much to see some times lol. Well anyway in a result kinda off topic i had a warrant for my arrest in texas.. I have never been to Texas let alone close to the state. I got a call from a FBI investigator from the Perice county off in washingtion state. asking me questions blah blah... anyway ever since then i didnt pay on my dept because if i were to pay and get the score back up someone kept hitting it and knocking it down it was a lose lose battle with it.

So I have been in school for the last 3 years and now that school loans are due for repayment *sigh* and i have outstanding debt in collections at the moment for about 4000 of dept not including the 30,000 owed to the student loans. I am thinking about filing Bankruptcy and get this stuff straightened out and go about it.

I am 25 still young in most peoples eyes. But i am saddened deep in my heart cause i cant get anything i want on credit i literally have to sell my soul to get anything nice. ive tried and tried to get things in the right track and stay close to out of dept but this well...lack of better words.. anyway back on topic sorry about the rant there

What i am wanting to know what all of you think or could help. I am new the the bankruptcy thing and have no guidance.

Question 1: with so little in actual clearable debt such as CC and other mis stuff should i even file the BK since its 4000.

Question 2: I cant even get alone to go back to school to get my degree cause of all this. and the 30,000 is not able to be wiped i cant get a consolidation loans cause of this mess.. so im screwed.. so once again should i file in hopes of it bettering my chances of getting a consolidation loan in the future?

    whatcha think?!

    Thanks for your time!

First you have to ensure all the identify theft stuff is cleared out and hopefully you put fraud alerts on your credit reports as to that. You don't indicate anything as to that issue being resolved. Were the police contacted and your creditors all contacted about that? I would not file BK over $4,000 of debt and you need to get a plan in place to clean up the ID theft information getting cleaned out and cleaning things up credit wise. Your student loans are not dischargeable. Are you employed? Living with your parents? It seems like you just let things go not caring what happened as to your credit due to your ID theft situatoin. Have you pulled your credit reports recently?

There are many unanswered questoins here as to your situation as to any income you may have, are you employed, rent, live with parents, etc., etc. but again I would not suggeset filng BK just due to a $4,000 debt. Until you get a few things cleaned up, it is going to be hard for you to get out of the rut you are in.

To answer some of them questions... I am employed part time. I am living with the parents at the moment.. the plan was when i get out of school get my career started.. As for the debt.. does anyone know if i pay them off do they immeditly report the debt paid in full to the Credit agency or does it take a certian time for it to come off. I am not sure how that works.

There are people telling me.. dont pay them all off in one shot pay them in payment looks better blah blah... but i just want this crap over with and done. I dont dare ask my parents for help it wasnt there fault or there problem. just alot of things im unsure about..

As for the fraud alert im not sure on that procedure on that. and also as for the police report. I have not done that yet cause the guy has been cause and charged i am getting flown out to Seattle wa. for his court appearance for me to testify..
