    Question Columbus Ohio- Attourney Refferal

I'm not sure of the protocol to request a Attorney referral here, but if you've had a good experience in the Columbus I'm sure your attorney would not mind

Case: High income, but so far pass all online means test, would pass by more if my annual bonus could be annualized.

Please share your good fortune, I need an Attorney.... fast ;)

    Attorney Referral

It's ok to ask for a referral. The best leads are the ones referred.

I keep looking for that private message box to light up, or the counts in this thread....

Funny getting to the point where BK is the best option takes forever but once you get there it's like getting it done is all you can think about.

        QUOTE]

The income on the means tests is Gross Income for the previous 6 months. For example, we will be filing on 9/30/09 and our income will be based on March-Sept. wages. My Social Security Disability is not included to pass the means test; however, the Gross will be included in figuring our budget.

We almost filed in December 2008 at the recommendation of our Attorney. Searching this forum and asking questions, I found out some of my 401k money I had spread over a 10 yr. period was considered income & I received my final payout in February. Thus waiting to file in Sept. 09. Attorney overlooked it as I didn't even know what a Means Test was and presented him with an Excel Spreadsheet of our Income and Expenses when we met with him in 9/08.

We stopped paying most of our credit cards at the end of Sept. 08. Attorney paid, so gave those who called his name, address & phone number. Calls picked up again in later March, but so far this month, no calls. Attorney said don't answer phone if you don't know the person who is calling. Received two notices from collection agencies and Attorney said to ignore them until we receive something Certified from Post Office, UPS or Fed Ex.

We are current on our house payment and my husband's truck payment. My 1999 Toyota Sienna is paid for & think it will squeek by the $3,225 NADA retail value at present time. Figure by August, it will drop. House we just bought in 12/20/07, so not much equity in it.

I understand your situation with your stock/employer, but don't be too hasty in using the first Attorney you speak with. If you don't get any referrals from this forum, look in the yellow pages. Call and ask if they have a Free Consultation. Set up a few appts and take a Printed Copy of the Means Test along with your budget along with the info on your stock.

We used ***** when we file Chapter 13 in November 2007. Her office is downtown in the ****** and her phone number is ******. I wouldn't say she is terribly personable, but she knows her stuff and got us some wiggle room in our budget. Her office person is great at getting any questions answered if I email her. We were confirmed with no problems. We had to pay $500 up front to her, and rest of her fee was rolled into the payments.

            Thanks much Corgi.

Anyone worked with ******? His profile and outlook at nolo looks very positive. From what I read he seems like someone I would like working with (just from reading his comments in the Columbus Dispatch)

Please do not list names nor contact information of attorneys or firms in postings. The PM service is available for that purpose if you would like to share attorney information.
