    My situation

5 years ago my wife was transferred and we moved states. I was unemployeed for 2 years and since I moved for her job, I was ineligible for unemployment. We were fairly sucessful beforehand so we weren't worried. After 2 years I took a commision only job for 6 months and made approx. 5k. Then I was off again for 8 months. In all, I got more than 100k in debt on credit cards trying to stay afloat. In the past 28 months I have made 180k but over 50k of that went to credit cards and then subtract taxes and I made no head room. In January of this year I lost my finance job(not with a TARP bank). It has been 2 months with nothing. I have cashed in my savings/401k and my investments all went by the wayside with the crash so I have nothing. My wife makes decent money but that covers the house(only in her name), day care(have since taken kids out), groceries, etc. I have been told that I made too much money to file BK but I can't see any other way. I see football players who made millions filing and wonder why I can't.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

Some details would help. Your income over the past 6 months, Your hh income. Your state, equity in home, size of family. All those go into the calculus.

Up until today, MY last 6 months income is, before taxes, 16k. The house income is 48k in that same period. Since February, I do receive $290 per week in unemployment but that doesnt even cover the utilities. House payment in 1500 per month, child care was close to 1k per month. We have zero equity in the house. 2 mortgages to pay off my wife's debt and one home improvment loan. That plus decreased home value and we have a negative equity position. There are 2 adults, 2 children in the house and we live in SC.
My car payment is $587 per month, with amount owed at 21k. Value is probably wholesale at 12k, direct sale maybe 14-16k so I under water there as well

You're going to need to fill this out and see where you stand via median income for your state and then disposable income.
Most bk lawyers give free or lowcost initial consultations. SPeak with a few and get all of your options explained.
