    Where to start

I have been reading these boards non stop and love all the info.. I need help now to know what to do. I know we need to get to an attorney right away. I am paying credit cards that I can still pay the small monthly payment on. Should I stop paying everyone all together. I don't pay the big bank cards because they won't take $40.00 they want $1500. I am not trying to avoid paying anyone I just can't write a check for $1500. I feel like I should pay the little amounts I can pay even though I don't have the money to pay anything.

Also my husband will be taking a new job 2 hours from our house, he will be getting a place to stay thru the week can we take that off our budget also. We are going to file 13.
Thank you all for the info you post on these boards. There is almost no judgement on people and the board leaders are great. I think I would have slit my wrists if I would not have found you all. It is nice to know I am not alone. I will be the first to say I am in this money trouble for no other reason than my own fault. Thinking my husbands job was a sure thing and spending money on clothes and toys noone in my house needed. I think I have learned so much from this and my children are still young enough to learn from this.

If you are certain you are going to file within the next few months, then stop paying ALL your non-secured debts and for any assets you intend to surrender when you file right now. Instead save that money and use it to pay your lawyer's retainer.

Filing bk needs to be a cold, emotionless financial decision looking at what's going to be the best for your family in the long run. Don't let your emotions rule your financial actions. Believe me, your creditors sure aren't.

Probably. Be sure to ask this question as you interview 3-4 experienced bk lawyers in your area.

Hang in there, kkole. This is a hard journey but as you've already figured out, there are many valuable life lessons for us and our children along the way.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

lrprn is right on...your last few sentences in your posting indicate you are on the right track about all this and should survive well after it is all done. Consider all this a life event from which to get through, learn from, adjust the lifestyle and move on.
