would you go with an attorney that you met through teleconference?

I met with my first attorney yesterday and was surprised that it was a teleconference.

The attorney firm are supposedly great bankruptcy attorneys but it just felt really impersonal not to actually be able to sit down with someone. He sounded all business, asked if I had any questions at first, asked some simple questions, and then said "yeah I think we can do this".

Is this normal?

I am sure it isn't too normal, but on the other hand, if he is all business, that is what you want. Your not going to a golf game with him, you are hireing him to bid for you. Let your gut feeling lead you and if you have doubt try another. From what I've seen, getting a good one is a crap shoot anyway. 'Hub

I felt like most atty's I met were like used car salesmen... The crappy part about it is there isn't a way to really know unless you can to talk to someone that has used them in the past- but that might be an awkward conversation to even have...

I still say there needs to be a database of opinions/experiences on atty's... 'cept I bet it would get sued daily. Maybe if I hosted it in Guam or something.....

I hear what you are saying, Sub. The first 30 minutes or so were kind of awkward because a) I was nervous (of course) and b) he's all business and didn't make sure that everybody was comfortable. Once I understood that guy a little better we all warmed up a bit and it turned out okay.
