Life after BK is pretty good...

We went through the whole process last year after years of struggling and trying to maintain our credit. After filing BK and letting our rental property and home go as well we are well on our way to financial freedom of sorts.
We are making a big move across the country soon, form metro Detroit to the Dallas, Ft. Worth area. My wife got a new job at a hospital there and I am hopefully wrapping up the sale of my business tomorrow (crossing fingers!). We were able to lease an apartment and it was our first choice. A very nice community with lots of ammenities. We were very up front with them regarding our credit and all they did was increase the deposit from $300 to $800. We are very pleased and excited.
Just wanted people to know that life after BK can be good as long as you adjust your lifestyle. We live simpler, appreciate more, and enjoy things more now.

Just a quick update. I called the electric co. to get the power on for our move in. They are very up front that they do a credit check to see if they will need a deposit. I was very surprised when the lady said we were all set and no deposit was required!
We were thinking of opening up a credit card to rebuild, but have decided to just wait. Our scores have begun to rise on the creditkarma.com site so we are just gonna keep on doing things the way we have been!

Knowing my credit was shot after BK, I got a written reference from my existing utilities and was able to give my new utility companies these in lieu of a credit check. That works also to avoid the deposit.
