We are getting very close to retaining our atty. In fact I think I am going to do in tomorrow. Today I completed the on-line counseling. It was a lot easier that I expected it to be. I was prepared and had preprinted the worksheets and had all my numbers ready.
I spoke to atty's secretary and she said once I pay the $300 retaining fee they will start to work on our case and once we pay in full then they'll file. She was so nice. She said that she is going to work really hard to help us get into chpt 7. Is was concerned that I was putting the expense too low....5 kids, of which 3 are growing teenagers. She suggested breaking toiliteries away from groceries....shampoo, toothpaste and deodorant for 6 people can really add up. We hardly ever go to the movies but she said even going 2 times a year is over $200. I felt so much better once I spoke with her.
I already had a meeting with the atty weeks ago and I am very comfortable and confident in him.
It is amazing how quickly our mood swings from being scared & nervous to feeling relief & comfort.
The secretary mentioned that they are swamped now with new filings. She said after the 15th people started coming in.
Now I am eager to get the process done.
On a bad note, the children's & DH's social security cards are missing. They are not in the lockbox and I am sure they are all together in an envelope somewhere. I spent the weekend looking so tomorrow I'll go order replacements.
Thanks again for the amazing wealth of knowledge these forums provide.
