visited another atty today...
So we had another appt today with an atty in our area...we're sitting there talking with him and the office door opens and the atty looks up to say hello, we turn our heads, and it's the atty we spoke with LAST week! He recognized us and said hello, we said hello, and that was it but I was sooooo embarrassed! I have no reason to be, I know, but it was pretty awkward. Come to find out later in talking with the "new" guy that they are best friends. We like the "new" guy better, and his fee is $750 less. We're going to file as soon as we can come up with the money to pay him.
PS - (We decided not to meet with the friend of a friend referral....he's located 40 miles away).

Pay your mortgage first BEFORE the cc. I used to be the same way - so scared they'd raise my APR and down goes the credit. Firstly, a mark from your mortgage company (installment loan) brings down your credit score more than a late from the cc. Plus, where you live is more important. Can you get by if you didn't have the cc? If you answered this, I apologize.over $100K cc debt,$20K taxes,$332K mortgages/value $190K,surrendered
Confirmed, $801/month 56 down,4 to go

I just have to say that my initial meeting with my atty was just one of the many atty's that worked at the firm. I was not impressed with this guy, but I am SOOO glad I stayed with the firm. In fact, just yesterday the lein release on my vehicle arrived. Because of a screw up at the atty office, they paid the lien off for us- of course they took the vehicle, but do you realize how ethical that was!!!
Anyway's my point is, is that even with a relaxed or 'not worried' approach atty's have may just be that 1) that's not the big shot atty who makes the decisions 2) the atty's know the system really well and don't need to worry
For me it was both those reasons. What I would do is check pacer out and see how the trustee's in your district handle cases like yours....Filed: 11/25/08 - chp 7 no asset
