How do you find out if a collection agency has gotten a judgement against you without you ever being notified? I know this happens sometimes, where a person is not notified they are being sued and then there is a judgement. Sometimes I read that people can check on that, how do they do that? I'm worried we are going to be sued before we can file BK and then end up with a default judgement. Thanks.

Thanks, I'll try this. I'm not sure if it will work, since we live in a pretty small area and I don't know that we have much of a website for our local courthouse. I will certainly give it a try. I know we haven't been properly served with papers per the requirements of Illinois, but that doesn't stop other creditors from getting sneak judgements.

It's common enough in this area that my attorney told me to check at the courthouse to see if anyone had put a sneak lien on our house before we officially file. We were never served, but our attorney says that happens rather often where people are not served and then don't show at court since they don't know it is going on and then get a default judgement against them. I'm going to check the courthouse for a lien on our house, but I was just wondering how to keep an eye on creditors so I know if they are trying for something like that. It disgusts me how illegal some of their behaviors are.
