Ironically, both the previous poster and the book I am currently reading (Maxed Out) make reference to Dave Ramsey. I had never heard of him before so I have been looking over his site. Does anyone have any experience with him? I imagine that we are too deep in the hole we dug to follow steps like "get a 2nd job" and "live on a budget" to get out of the kind of debt we have. We made a reasonable budget and it works very well when we don't have CC payments and I work far too much to consider a 2nd job and if my wife works child care costs and transportation will net us almost nothing.

I only decidided to file after going thru a legitimate local credit counseling agency. I was going to have to "borrow" $2000. per month to pay off creditors thru credit counseling for 60 months. Counselor advised to check into bk. I didn't even know I had that option. Filed 13 without her since we have always maintained separate checking and cc accounts. It took me weeks to tell her what a predicment I was in but after telling her I was never so relieved. Then I found this sit and have been learning that I am not the only one with this to deal with. 2 payments down 53 to go.
