    Buy a car and file?

Yeah, still trying to get filed. I am dragging my feet because I feel like a failure for having to do it. Here's my question:

Neither my GF or I have a vehicle, we haven't had one for over a year. We have been driving a truck that belonged to my gf's ex (Don't ask me how THAT happened, I was just thankful it did).

He lives out of state and called the other day and asked for it back. He is going to either come and get it or have it delivered to him, I don't know which.

So I am going to need a vehicle. I had intended to use my tax check to cover attorney fees (It's a custody issue, more on that in another post) but I have to have a car or lose my job.

I can't get financing, of course, so I have to buy from an individual or a "buy here, pay here" place.

How bad will it look for me to buy a vehicle before I file?

    Thanks in advance,
    M

No problem. Transportation is something you need to take care of before you file.

I have a few questions along the same lines: I have a lease ending in April but will probably file in late June (waiting for large one-time bonus from December to fall off trailing 6 months income to pass means test). I'd like to buy a car before my credit gets thrashed since I will probably have to stop paying CCs next month. Will anyone dispute this when I file? If I have an amount due at lease end for overgae miles can I include that in the BK?

It's just pretty standard to be sure you have reliable transportation before you file. Just buy a reasonably priced car. No Mercedes or BMW.
Yes, the overage on the lease is discharged in the bk.
