No, but I've met tons of people that have had this exact problem with many different gyms. It was a Gold's by my former workplace. When I changed jobs, there were no other locations in the area near me, so I decided to finish off my contract (like four more months, which is when I wrote the first letter,) and I started going to a community center instead at 1/4 of the monthly fee.

Hot tip: The key is to make sure all coorespondence is written and certified. I didn't know it would get that dramatic or I would have. It's the only way to make sure they don't say they didn't recieve your notice of not renewing.

I can't keep track of who is calling anymore, they call non-stop all day long and usually a recording telling you to hold the lines. I know its either Chase, GE Money, Target & Capital One.
I always used my cell phone for everything and i don't want to change my number but I get so annoyed at all the calls. I have some blocked but others are unknown so I cannot block them anymore.

Vegasgirl, just don't answer any call coming into your cell unless the number is programmed in. For buisness calls, etc...just check your VM often and return calls. That's what I did and kept the phone on silent...

I know who is the pain now!

Citi called every 15 minutes, until I gave them the case number. Then they apologized and said they hope everything works out ok.

Amex called after three days and called several times a day. When I gave them the case number she was snotty but they have not called again.

HSBC are a total pain in the arse. Letters threatening to sue in less than a month. Call and call and call. All automated. I wait to talk to someone to give them the case number but they disconnect before I get in touch.

Beneficial has not called once but they have sent us a couple letters.

Probably a good idea to change my paperless statements back to regular paper statements then. Right?

Not just HSBC. But Best Buy HSBC! They want me to reafirm the debt or return everything purchased from them. Said the credit card contract states that they own the property until the card is paid in full.

I will never buy anything from them again! That is for damn sure.

Wow. You folks have all the fun. We didn't get any calls and had 6 credit card accounts.

I kind of wanted to get calls because I felt I was holding all the cards once we decided to file. So much empowerment, wasted. Oh well -- at least we didn't have them calling relatives, friends & neighbors either!

The biggest headache was citi. They called so much that 2 of our portable phone's had their battery drained till they died. We had 2 replace the batteries. We should have kept the phones in their charges all of the time.

1FBSD called no less than twenty times a day, when we wouldn't answer, they called our immediate families in four different states. Had my 76 YO grandmother worried sick for a little while. Slimy collections department with those jokers. All of my other creditors would call once every couple of days. My wife's creditors just sent fake legal docs trying the scare tactic crap, I have a stack of those.

They do that with everyone. DO NOT respond back. it is their form of a scare tactic. My lawyer told me how she gets the same letter from them and she never responds. They have never done anything after.(knock on wood). I specifically asked her about BB and my Recent TV purchase.

Well, you should amend your "never buy anything from them again" to include all department, electronics and retail stores that have branded credit cards. They all have that pesky "you grant us a purchase money security interest in each item you buy"... clause.

Not getting show department store cards anymore, and trying to stick with Mastercard, VISA type credit cards, may be a good thing. However, the lure of those department store cards with 0% interest, no payments for 24 months, and similar promotions, are what got us all hooked!

We started getting calls from Citigroup within like 2 days of missing a payment. We had been late one time before.

First they called my cell since that's what they have on file. Then they got ahold of my home phone. Between the two phones they call probably 6 times a day. Sometimes it's every two hours.

We just don't answer. Now that we have a case number, should we pick up and let them know that?

Compass Bank Visa. And i am not sure how they got the number as we changed it and it's unlisted.
I told them to call my attorney and we would be filing within the month. That did not stop them. I also got certified letters about every ten days threatening us.
When we filed they still called and I complained. They would take take the case number and said they had no notification. I still got certified mail from them but the calls finally stopped.
I also got a letter from an attorney's office threatening to sue on their behalf after we filed. My attorney took care of that one.
I got the last certified letter from Compass just before the 341 meeting. I hope that it's the last one at this point.

Discover and Citi. Discover leaves messages sometimes more than once a day. Airtran calls a lot and leaves message every day, but they come up unknown. I get a lot of unknowns. They finally filled up my voicemail.

I had to change my phone numbers because Citibank, Chase, and ESPECIALLY Bank of America would call non-stop. Letters would come, my Brother called me and told me ,they were calling him looking for me. Aye, aye, aye.

But I agree with the other posters - the very split second I dropped the word "Bankruptcy" in the convo, they became nice as pie and never called back
