I Need a good lawyer reference Grand Rapids MI area

If you could please help me, I would appreciate it. My wife and I are hoping to get refrences from people that have had to file bankruptcy in the west michigan area.

We are very nervous about the process and because of terrible mental health and legal issues with one of our daughters we are financially exhausted.

If anyone has had good luck with an Attorney in West Michigan I would appreciate a reference.

I can't give you a referral but am in the same boat in needing a referral (central NJ). Have I missed a spot on the forums containing referrals or is that frowned upon on here? I don't want to go deeper in the hole by getting burned by a bad attorney.

I'm not from that area but I went to google and searched best bankruptcy attorneys in (put you're city here) and I think I may have found one in my city I'll find out this coming monday.

But try this and make some consult appointments and see if you're comfortable with them.

I appreciate that, but I am still kind of hoping for someone that has went through it and had good luck working with "If I can say this with a straight face" an honest attorney. I know most of them are, but we are in a pretty bad place right now and really need it to go well.

I totally agree. While I don't mind using the internet to research bankruptcy (that's how I found this site), I really do want a referral from someone who has first hand experience with the attorney/firm. The top Google hits mean they are savvy internet marketers but does not guarantee integrity.

Always interview at least 3-4 lawyers before deciding on one. First do as much research as you can about the bk chapter you want to file. Then go to each interview with a list of questions that fit your situation and write down the answers you get. That's how you can get a feel for which lawyer is the most knowledgeable and which one you think will do the best job representing you. Good luck!
