how do i answer this question...

i know this sounds incredible, but last year i bought and sold 2 cars and 5 motorcycles.... all were financed.... now i have one car and 2 motorcycles...other than that, i had no extravigant spending and a very modest lifestyle.. one hot meal a day at the local diner and ate lean cuisine frozen dinners...

i figure the trustee is going to ask me what the hell i was thinking...

what can i say, i was off my meds or what?.... i dont want to stand there with the deer in the headlights look...

    any suggestiions..

Why exactly is this an issue? Were you buying and selling to make money? Did you lose a lot of money in the process? The simple fact you bought and sold seven vehicles is not important. What is important is the impact that had on your financial condition.
So the poor debtor, seeing naught around him
Yet feels the narrow limits that impound him
Grieves at his debt and studies to evade it
And finds at last he might as well have paid it.

thats the problem... some people drink, some gamble, i bought vehicles....lost a lot of money doing so... so shame on me...
but i would still like to have a reasonable explanation, if im ask...

What's wrong with the truth? You like to trade cars and cycles.
        It really is no issue.

Well it may or may not be an issue. Were any of these sales insider transactions? Were any of there significantly below retail value? It would be fraud if you bought the cars then sold them to friends and family below retail value and then now are going to try and wipe out some of that debt.

If they were sales to random strangers then I agree, it's a non-issue.

                  Floridian,

I lovingly say that you misunderstand one of the central facts about bankruptcy: you don't have to have a "legitimate" reason along as you were not committing fraud (borrowing knowing that you wouldn't be able to repay).

Foolishness is my reason. That and an addiction. But that's OK .... I'm no longer indulging the addiction, but I ran up lots of bills while in the midst of it.

Isnt that one of the questions that they ask as the 341 meeting? "How did you get here?"

it just seems to me that ever since the 05 bk laws, that its become a punitive thing... sort of like you have to be taught a lesson....
if i say that it was frivilous spending that got me in this boat, they might feel like i have to be taght a lesson and clip my wings..

My thoughts as well. If I was in this shape due to huge medical bills, I feel that others would have more sympathy compared to my own foolish mistakes. Personal feelings affect all decisons. I hope that when our day comes the person in power got a good nights sleep, didnt fight with their spouse, ect...
