Very nervous right now - Objection to Claim

Hi, I have never been on this board but I am extremely nervous.

I filed bankruptcy in August 2005. I am making payments to the Trustee handling the case because I made more money the following few months post BK.

I informed the Trustee via eMail three (3) days ago I would make the final payment to him so the BK can be done.

I went to the mailbox today and opened it and found a letter whereby the legal verbiage is very confusing.

It is an "OBJECTION TO CLAIM" from a creditor and list that creditor as the CLAIMANT. It says on the next page that the claim is ORDERED to be DISALLOWED.

This is either the best letter or worst letter I can get...does that mean that the Creditor's Objection to the Claim is Disallowed...OR...does that mean my claiming them as a creditor I owe money to is disallowed????

Please help as my wife and I are scared out of our minds since this debt is enormous.

Please advise - thank you so much for any help.

I think the "claimant" is the one doing the claiming. So, it sounds like his claim has been disallowed by the court. Just my opinion - I am not a lawyer.

You really need to give more details if you want a more detailed answer.

I agree with PoorGrammy, we need more info. BUT..my gut says it means a creditor who filed a PROOF OF CLAIM in your case was finally looked at and The Claim made by the creditor was DISALLOWED, good for you, bad for the creditor .

I could be wrong (I hope not!!!)

Not knowing anything at all, I would guess they are prepping your case for closure and realized they had an open issue with a claim which affected how they would be wrapping up the distribution and had to settle it. As long as it says claim is disallowed, so ordered, I'd guess you are fine. Creditors claim, trustees and debtors object, right?
filed chapter 13..confirmed...converted to chapter 7...DISCHARGED!
