Anyone else tired of the debt settlement commercials?

It seems like they are running non stop. I know that a lot of people will fall for them before they realize it's a scam.

These debt settlement commercials are truly sick. But the "freecreditreport.com" ads are even sicker. The idiot in the commercial isn't a waiter because he didn't check his credit report, doesn't live in his inlaws' basement because he didn't check his credit report.

OMG, I want to scream when I see those debt settlement commercials!

At least the service I went with refunded 75% of the the fees I paid them.

I should have just gong into BK 7 instead. I still had great Fico scores and I had never missed a payment. I just couldn't leep up with the minimums anymore.

IMO, if the debt settlement will work for someone, they can do it on their own and pay the cc's what they would be paying the DSC's!

I started looking into DS, and saw too much negative stuff out there about them. big rip off. I hear a lot of unemployed car salesman are being hired into that business

Why do anything in TX? I didn't think that TX allowed garnishment of wages or bank accts for consumer debt?

Of course they do...they are funded subsidiaries of the banks themselves.

I like the commercial I hear on the radio all the time, the guy calls in and says he owes 5000.00 Dollars and he will never get out of debt. Then the announcer says if your in way over your head and owe 5,10, or 15 Thousand Dollars in unsecured debt they can help! I always laugh because I feel like calling in and saying I have unsecured debt can you help me? They say sure how much do you have ...over 500k.....then lets see what they would say!

The fees they charge are astronomical. I called one to find out what they were talking about and they promise to be able to cut your debt by 50%. What happens is that they set you up on a payment plan and you stop paying all of your creditors and send payments to them. Well, for like the first year most of your payments are only going to their fees. By that time your creditors are already sending out settlement offers anyway. People can do what those companies are doing on their own and save tons of money.
