Served by Citibank. What do I do now?

So today I was sitting in my apartment and the doorbell rang. I answered it and it was an old lady that was serving me papers from Hunt and Henriques law firm for the $5714 I owe to Citibank for a credit card I defaulted on. I have not paid the credit card in about a year and I am in the process of paying my attorney off to file for bankruptcy. I will probably have him paid off by March 1st and plan to file then. My question is I was reading the papers and it said the court date was 12/14/2009. That is almost a year away! i know that when I file for bankruptcy this lawsuit will be held up but isn't that court date kind of far away? Maybe I read it wrong but that is the only day i see on the court paperwork.

That is weird. I wonder if it is a miss print. But if thats the court date. I cant be 2008. The courst are backed up but thats crazy. I would check with your lawyer.

If the date is correct... you have time to file.

If the date is incorrect, then it is a technicality which would get the case dismissed, or at least delayed.
