BKForum Wiki Project now open!

We have rolled out the BKFORUM WIKI Project. Our goal is to create the most comprehensive bankruptcy encyclopedia on the internet.

If you have any experience with wikipedia, or any similar formats of online page publishing, you will have no problem contributing into our wiki. Even if you have no such experience, it takes about 5 minutes to learn. I just added some articles with no prior knowledge of making wiki articles.

I created a few articles, but with the thousands of BKForum members we can create unlimited number of pages with good bankruptcy related content.

So far, here is the main BK category:

for example, if you wanted to add some abbreviation definitions, you would go to http://www.bkforum.com/wiki/Bkforum_abbreviations, and click on 'edit' tab and add new entries.

Or, if you wanted to add up-to-date exemptions for each state, you can go to: http://www.bkforum.com/wiki/Category:Exemptions and click on any state and start adding the content (I just did Alabama).

how do we get in to modify categories? I would like to add Forms for a start. may also want to look at category hierarchy to get the flow going better...

Ok, I suppose our categories are going to be like this:

Bankruptcy
> Chapter 7
> Chapter 13
> Abbreviations
> Exemptions
> Forms
> more to come

for example to create Bankruptcy > Forms, I went to URL:

http://www.bkforum.com/wiki/Category:Forms

pressed edit this page and just put '[[Category:Bankruptcy]]' at the bottom, so the page is linked as child of Bankruptcy.

If I'm not mistaken, we can now create subcats of Forms like this:
http://www.bkforum.com/wiki/Category:Chapter_7_forms and then link to '[[Category:Forms]]' in code, so when we visit the forms page http://www.bkforum.com/wiki/Category:Forms it will show all the pages that created under that cat.

I encourage all community members use these articles for reference, but more importantly to edit them and update them. If you see mistakes, typos, inaccuracies etc, please edit the article and fix it. All registered BKF members can edit all articles.

I wouldn't mind helping with this if I find some time, never did wiki before but I'm sure I could learn how. (That is add stuff to wiki, I read it all the time)

We still could use more people adding articles to the wiki.

Definitely a noble cause. The government site has a ton of information on it. A lot of that information should be referenced. Cornell's law website has a lot, too.

This is a wonderful idea and I hope that I will be able to contribute in some way to 'pay it forward'.

A suggestion would be to have a section for case law. Example: In re Lanning (which is already a sticky); I want to post an appellate decision that allows the full IRS car exemption even if you own an old car outright; cases that support/show calculations re liens impairing homestead, etc.
