Means Test prior to stopping payments?

    Just a quick question.

Should I do a means test before I stop making payments on my unsecured debts?

    Are the online ones accurate?

The one at Legal Consumer is probably the best, most up to date one there is.

As for "before I stop making payments"... I don't understand the question.

You would fill out the means test based on what you make and spend today. In general, it doesn't ask for "unsecured" credit payments. It asks about categories of debt (living expenses, etc).

I'm asking because I don't want to get into a BIGGER bind if I can't qualify for BK. So I'm saying should I take the means test prior to missing payments. The other post I have explains the situation.

The more I'm looking at my actual income I don't think we are going to have a problem. I dont know how I've made it this far.

Yes you should do the means test before stopping any payments.
Ypu don't stop payments until you are sure you are going to file.

I just did the means test online after filling out all of the paperwork that my lawyer gave me in order to perform a means test.

I seem to have passed. The amount on line 51, which was to be under $10,190 or something right in there was -$29,000. I don't know if I did something wrong or what, but I double checked everything.

Hrmm. I'm dropping this stuff off with the attourney tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I had my second meeting with the attorney today and gave him all of the information and $550 down to get things going. We are doing a means test as soon as I get him the rest of my wife's pay stubs (monday). He said there is no reason that I should have any trouble I just missed the median income by a hair.

I don't know how to feel. Its my birthday and I feel like I might have given myself the best present ever. A new start. But now I'm REALLY broke after having given him $550. The road to recovery!

ROTFL, I just had a post about this yesterday. Once you pay off the lawyer you can maybe start to feel not so broke.
