    credit and BK Question

I'm sure it's been asked before on here, but How long does a BK stay on your credit report for? I filed a chapter 7 back in 2002 and I was wondering when it would be cleared from my file. Thanks.

10 years for the BK public record and 7 years for any of the accounts you included in BK.

      A minor correction.

It's 10 years from filing for a Chapter 7 Public Record to remain.

It's 7 years from filing for a Chapter 13 Public Record to remain.

It's 7 years for any derogatory credit line to be reported. That's from the time of the default. If it's related to an account Included in Bankruptcy (IIB), then it's 7 years from the filing of that Bankruptcy... regardless of what Chapter is filed.
      Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)
Status: (Auto) Discharged and Closed! 5/10
