    job layoff

    Hey all,
I was just a part of a big layoff today. I am not necessarily happy about it, but I kinda new it was coming.

I did contact my lawyer about this since I'm in a Chp 13, but he has not got back to me as of yet.

I am able to get unemployment, which is nice.

I am sure glad I had some savings.

In order to stay in your Chapter 13 you will need income. You will probably be advised to get another job ASAP or your Chapter 13 will be dismissed if you cannot make those payments. Our Plan indicated that we had to make payments even if a job was lost.

What Flamingo says is true in an Asset 7 case also. When you are required to make payments, you have to make them, unless you can make other arrangements.

      Good luck.

Well, I do have enough to make payments for the next few months. Hopefully I can get a paying job before the funds run out.

Sumoboy, good wishes go with you. But I would let your attorney know--if you have one--just in case.

            I appreciate it.

My attorney knows the situation. He was the second person I contacted. The first was the people at the unemployment commission.

I know I can get through it.
