I am one of the guilty offenders. I agreed with someone who said he could go to jail.
If he is charging thousands of dollars on the credit cards for luxury items in a short period of time and does not pay for them, the CC company could prosecute him if they can prove fraud. Who knows if the CC company would take the time to do that, but they would be allowed to, it is considered theft. If you are showing that you have 6 brand new cards, charged $10,000 on them and then didn't pay, it would be pretty obvious.
My hope was that if the OP mentioned this to her spouse, he may rethink his actions and stop.
