    D'oh!

    I filed on 11/18.

I had an automatic payment come out of my checking account which I will close after discharge. (It's tied to a line of credit and a CC)

It is now over drafted. Should I deposit $25 into the account (the amount of the overdraft) or not worry about it?

I can speak with direct experience. PAY THE $25.00. OTHERWISE, you'll be fighting with ChexSystems over this when you go to open a new account somewhere.

Once reported to Chexsystems, it will stay there for 5 years, regardless if you paid after it was reported. It can be updated as "paid," but the actual reporting will still be there.

I don't believe the OP's account has been reported yet, as this just happened (based on my read).

The OP needs to get this paid immediately, so that the Bank doesn't "write-off" the account and report it to ChexSystems.

I find this strange, you filed yet they took money? Isin't that "Preferential payments?" Or something which the trustee will say "No, this is not allowed"

In regards to the overdraft, I personally found this kind of interesting. I have had the same happen to me (In a way).

I took out 2 payday loans (Boy talk about nuts!) and so I fell behind on them. I was able to redirect paychecks to another bank. So, that was done.

Now, by the time the bank (Wells Fargo) closed the account, it was -$2,399. Here's where it gets curious.

I have never had a collection account for the account, nor the bank has ever come after me for the "Overdrafts" and nothing from "Chexsystems"

In fact, I opened 2 accounts in the midwest (One being BOA) and upon my return to WA, I opened 2 new checking accounts at US Bank and WA Mutual (Since bought by Chase)

I did speak to a lawyer about this in the midwest. He take on it was "These are "Automatic Debiting" basically an electronic check, but not a "Paper check" Plus, since the bank didn't have a "actual Loss" they simple had to refuse any withdrawl from the debiting the account"

So, they just "wrote it off" as cost of business and while they'd never welcome me back, I found the whole experience enlighting.

No, I'm not suggesting you ignore this, pay the $25 and hope nothing more happens...But I'd have closed that account right after I'd have filed though.

The $25 was a monthly subscription, not a creditor
