You can go to the BK court in your district or the Bar Association and ask for a list of recommendations. Going to the clerk of the BK court has the advantage of that person has to deal with these lawyers every day, and will probably be more likely to recommend names of the lawyers that THEY like dealing with--that have the paperwork in order and causes the least ammount of headaches for the clerks' office.
Good luck.
PS: We really aren't supposed to name names here in the public section. If somone should send you a Private Message, then that is okay."To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."

let me know who/how it works out. i'm contemplating same thing. however in order to fix my situation, my 2nd (HSBC) would need to write down principal by $200K. have heard the lenders making modifications, mostly extensions, and interest rate changes, but not principal reductions. the problem in the inland empire is that many people bought in 2005 at the top of the market. have several neighbors who paid $900k-$1M for their homes in that time period. now with the forclosures, those same houses are selling for $400-$500K. that makes a lot of people way upside down, and the more it happens, the more people give up and say to hell with it, i'm not gonna pay on a $1M house that is now worth 50% less. i can look out my front door and spit and hit 3 forclosures that went that same way. it is very very bad here.Originally posted by endisnear View PostExactly Albacore, and i'm hoping our lender works something out with us, or we'll be another statistic!Stopped Paying CC's 2/2009. my neighborhood is the same way...the house next door, and the one next to and also the one behind it and across the street have all been foreclosed. all of them have been purchased (for about half of what we paid in late 2005), except for one of them (the sign just went up last week), but it's just killing my value
i love my home, but seriously, i can rent something bigger and nicer for half my mtg!
