I hope I didnt mess up...Macys is having a huge sale on shoes right now

and I never buy myself anything. I went there since its my birthday on the 23rd and my Mom is buying me something. I bought two pairs of boots for $150 but to get the 60% off I had to put it on my Macys cc. I havent used that card in a year or so..
Is this going to be a problem if I pay it off say tomorrow with Moms check? Not filing til Jan.
I really needed some shoes. I think I buy shoes every 3 years or so...honestly..

It might become a problem, because you charged the shoes so close to your filing. If I were you I would hold on filing until at least February or March.
Don't think that it will matter when and who actually paid for the boots.
By the way - Happy Birthday - in advance.

I don't think its a problem if you pay it off (and its less than $600 too). I would love to have a nice new pair of boots (sigh). Enjoy them!!!!!

        Nobody will worry about $150.

I don't know the rules, but "a girl's gotta have shoes". If Macy's is paid off, how could they object?
I'll let you know how my case goes. I bought 6 pairs of shoes and also some clothes for work. I work in the professional world so it's a requirement to look dress nice. I just made the minimum payments right up to the time of filing.
          Chapter 7 filed 10/21/2008
          341 - 11/26 went smooth NO ASSET
Took 115 days after 341 - But Finally DISCHARGED 3/25/09

If the card had a zero balance it would not make a difference because you are no going BK on the card account anyway. We just filed and our lawyer did not even list our cards that had $0 balances on them. So pay it off and dont worry about it.

Time to start living the lesson, if you cannot pay cash for the items and still pay your regular expenses, you don't buy it. So yes, in the 'big picture", you messed up.

Okay very true for the "big picture"....you need to get out of that habit.

However if this is an isolated transgression and you pay it off right away, there should be no problem with your BK--it will probably go unnoticed.

The problem lies with the thinking, although I think under post discharge circumstances, it's actually pretty smart to use the card to get the 60 percent off and then pay it off immediately. But your timing sucks.

I wish you hadn't told me about the sale. My Macy's card is the only one that survived the BK. Well, that and Fingerhut. But nope, nope, nope, I am not going to do it!

In a very long time. I usually buy my clothes at Costco and pay cash
PS I got a part time job selling credit card processors ( ya gotta love the irony), and I need to look nice when I go into business. In my own business I dress rather casual...

I dont see any harm. You said your mother was paying for them. Take the check to macys and just give the check to macy's and pay the bill before the bill even comes. The statement will stay at $0.

I loathe shopping and never buy shoes either so I do get it.

                              Happy Birthday Early!
