    BOA is getting persistent

As it if wasn't bad enough somehow a couple of my creditors found my work number (luckily I have a voicemail so I've been dumping the calls there, heh) I got a text on my cell just a few minutes ago from BOA with the following:

Bank of America free text alert! To avoid a service interruption on your account, please call [number redacted] today before 9PM. To end alerts reply STOP.
Now that's all well and good. I have essentially free text messaging on my phone (it's 500, but I usually get about 20 a month), so if they want to text me to their hearts desire, they can. I'm tempted to reply STOP to them, but I'm not sure how well that would go over. What do ya'll think? Should I?

ETA: it's not like there is anything I could do with my account anyway since they closed it once they found out I was considering a credit counseling service.

All you have to do is block all incoming numbers except the ones you indicate for calls and text messages on your cell phone. Or if those texts are coming from a same specific number, block that number. Simple as that.

Erm..my work number is not the same as my cell number so, I can't block calls from coming in. I also work the switchboard, so I recognize the numbers coming in when they do call. They ask for me, I dump them into VM. And of course, they don't leave a message.

As for my cell, I can't block numbers unfortunately. This particular phone does not have this feature and something I've suggested to the manufacturer about adding. My last phone had it and I loved it.

I got a similar text from a credit card. I just sent the STOP back and never heard from them again.

I wish my cell phone had an incoming number block feature. That would be awesome! Back when I got my current phone, blocking calls was not a feature I thought to even look into . Maybe when my contract is up and I can get a new "freebie" phone with call blocking. My current phone is a "smart phone" with an operating system and all. Guess it's not "smart" enough to block calls, LOL I did get it for free, or "free" with a two year contract.

My husband used to get calls at work from BOA and Discover. BOA was pretty crafty trying to get him on the phone. Now that he's given his attorney's name and # (a few times) he says the calls stopped, but before he retained an attorney he had the unfortunate situation where he had to answer the phone using his employer's greeting, using his name. It got ugly, but once he retained an attorney, at least he could keep his cool when they "go him". I suggested he give a fake name when answering the phone at work, but his customers would have thought that was weird, he has a distinctive voice. When he files next week the calls should stop for good soon after

I can think of a few funny text replies to BOA, but ignoring them is probably best unless they get out of hand and use up your 500 texts.

Very fortunate in the grand scheme of things but have learned my lesson.

Yeah I'd go ahead and send STOP, no use letting them abuse you.

Yeah, I had that thought tonight when I opened my statement from them $665, and a note that if I don't make a payment soon, my account priviledges may be compromised. Again, they closed the account. How could it be compromised if I can't used a closed account?
