People Are Still Filing Bankruptcy in this Economy?

I have not been on this site for a long time. Something told me today to log in and I.m glad I did. I had no idea you guys were still here. I thought with the credit situations the way they were and the economy the way it is, I just knew nobody would be on here with any advice....but when it comes to you guys, I have been wrong before and I.m glad you are still here and in business.

I agree, BK's are on the rise now, not on the decline.

I am two years past discharge and we are doing well but I still come on here as I can to help out as to what I have been through as to our 13. This economy is bad for everyone not only those in financial straights. People in retirement are having to go back to work cause of huge losses in their retirement accounts and folks my age (mid-50's) will just have to work longer cause a huge chunk is missing in our 401(k)'s, which will take years to recoup. People due to their wanting a house really bad and the brokers/banks offering the moon basically to allow them to have the house even though the purchasers could not really afford it have sent everyone into a place they have never been before, except the older senior generation who have been through the Depression. There are many who have made billions off of this and then there are those thrown into foreclosure and bankruptcy. In the end, we will all pay more via taxes or in higher prices for goods/services for this meltdown, so whether living OK now or having to file for bankruptcy, everyone is feeling it in one way or another.

Just in time for the party.

And BK filings are going to get worse. Wouldn't surprise me none if they change the laws again because of the massive amounts of filings.

Change the laws which way?? To make it harder or easier?

I doubt if they will tho...

I was really hoping to not have to file but after being late on both CC's once and then having the interest double up to almost 30% and payments going from around $150 each to over $300 each, I don't really have a choice. Being self employed, my income is not really all that stable what with the way the economy is. Trying to find a part time job is impossible. So....BK it will be.

I heard Obama wants to revise BK laws to make it easier for people filing due to high medical bills.

Easier if Obama wins, harder if McCain wins.
