Keeping Bank Account?

So I have a few questions regarding bank accounts and bankruptcy

I just need to verify...that if you have no debt with the bank and you go through with bankruptcy will they close your account?-(I'm hoping no)

and also Will you be able to get a bank account once your bankruptcy is over?

I don't think the bank will close your account.

Not sure about the BK question, though. I know that if you write hot checks, get overdrawn, etc. and end up on CheckSystems, that's when you'll have a hard time opening an account.

It's been a VERY long time since I openened accounts (early 90s) and I don't remember the bank I worked out doing any kind of credit check or asking about BK. As long as you had your ID and we didn't get a "hit" on CheckSystems, you were good to go.

Our bank closed our account. Our bankruptcy attorney had sent our bank a letter stating to them that the garnishment on our account was lifted. Well, I guess all this scared the bank so they closed our account. It was a nightmare for us. Both our paychecks were direct deposit so when our checks went to the bank it was a closed account. It took almost a month for our checks to go to our new account. We were able to get an account at the credit union on post with out any problems. But I tried last year to get an account at a bank near my work and was turned down. We are now 2 years from our bankruptcy so Im sure more options are available for us.

I work at a bank and we don't check credit. We use chexsystems and as long as you don't owe another bank money you would be good to open. I have also seen plenty of customers that have filed/completed bk and their accounts were not closed. I only see accounts closed due to fraud or overdrawn for a long time and are charged off.
