    We're officially bankrupt

    Well,

    I just got the e-mail including our file number. So I guess I'm officially bankrupt as of now.

    Now the wait to the 341 starts.
    Filed 10/11/08 - 341 11/23/08 - Discharged 1/26/09
    2/19/09 Stipulation agreement reached w/trustee - Still awaiting Closed Status

    Every one of us here started the same way you did - filing and getting a case number. Most of us had a great sense of relief with an unfixable financial load lifted at last. Hope you will feel this way too.

    Keep asking questions here as you have them and update us on your case periodically. Hang in there!

            I racked up a lot of cc debt over a period of about 4 years. I was trying to pay it off since I was single and living at home and I was paying it off. But right after katrina in 2005 all my rates went up and the fees started adding up. I was paying more than the minimum but that balances really werent coming down. I then found out my gf last year was pregnant. We got married and moved in together and then I couldnt pay anything.

            I was getting some collection agencies in my state sending letters threatening legal action. I didnt have the money to pay an attorney. So I stood up and said to hell with the lawyers lol. I filed pro-se and eveyone looked at me like I was stupid and saying I was going to screw this up. During my 341 even one of the attorneys looked at another one and said "Watch this, as these are usually screwups". I made 1 little mistake that day and then looked at that lawyer and smiled. My discharge is scheduled on the 28th of this month.

            But anyway with all the threats of lawsuits and me worrying so much knowing that I would be screwed if I got a garnishment as I am barely getting by now. But I walked in that court with my papers and walked out with a case number and I had so much pressure relieved knowing that the creditors now could not touch me.
