Hi, everyone -
This came up in the foreclosure forum, and it's such a critical issue I wanted to be sure everyone else was aware of it. According to a NYT article yesterday,
I'll post the entire story in the "news" forum. There's been a lot of press on this in the last few days, some of which is pure scare-mongering, implying that if you have lost your home to foreclosure, you have also lost your right to vote. THIS IS NONSENSE. All you have to do is contact your board of elections IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS and change your address.
But YOU have to do it yourself, and you have to do it NOW, since the deadline in most districts is about a month before the election. If you don't know how to do this, just Google "_______ County Board of Elections", and call them. Do it now!
Sorry for shouting, but whatever side of the fence you're on, I think we can all agree that this election will be the most important one of our lives. Please don't give up your right to have a say.

"... the number of people who have moved, through foreclosure or for any other reason, far exceeds the number of people who have notified their election boards. In Ohio, 375,000 people filed change-of-address forms with the Postal Service, but when state officials sent them cards asking for updated registration information, only 24,000 responded. In Missouri, where 250,000 people notified the Postal Service of their move, only 22,000 told the election board."
