    What's up with Equifax??

Earlier today I went online to annualcreditreport.com to view and print each of my three credit reports. Didn't have any trouble with Transunion or Experian - but with Equifax.
Their crap: Internet delivery unavailable - mail in request
We're sorry, for your protection we are unable to deliver your FACT Act Equifax Free Annual Report on the internet. There are a number of reasons that we may bw unable to fulfill your request online. You may have a security freeze on your credit file, an Active Duty Military or Fraud Alert, or the identificatopn information submitted online may not match the information on file.
Then it tells me that if I want it to print out the request form and attach one of the following from each category:
    Identity:
    SS card - copy of
Pay stub with SS # on it - copy of
    W2 form - copy of

    Address:
    Copy of driver's license
    Copy of rental/lease agreement
Copy of pay stub with address
Copy of any utilty bill reflecting my name and address.

WTF - I myself never put a security freeze or fraud alert on my credit history . AS mentioned in my first paragraph, had no issues/troubles viewing and printing TU and Experian.
So WTF is up with these idiots?????????????

Hi there...oh good grief, don't get me STARTED on how annoying having 3 credit bureaus with various amounts of inaccurate info included in them, UGH!! Sorry you had problems with that one. I had one once that showed my name as (for example) "Sally Jane Jr."...when I tried to have the jr removed online, because clearly, I am a female, therefore, no one's "junior" they requested I send in all this similar identifying crapatola...I just gave up. Maybe some rainy day you'll feel up to sending them the stuff...because unless you happen to get lucky and run across a helpful rep over the phone, they won't care much I know, I'm not much help, just wanted to sympathize with ya....

Oh, and another thing...maybe you answered one of the lame ?'s they use to prove you're you with an error--each time I have to do that, I'm like, um, ahh, let's see, the year was 2002, what was the balance of my mortgage? What company did I have it through? What was my monthly payment?? Arggghhhhh....

Even when I had perfect credit, all 3 CRAs didn't always have the same thing.

As for the free reports, I don't trust them much. I've compared the free with the report from the actual CRA and they have never had the same info.

You may get better results requesting your report on paper by phone.

            Equifax:
            800-685-1111

            Experian:
            888-397-3742

            Transunion:
            800-888-4213
It's fully automated and you just need to match your phone#, address, and SSN.

One disadvantage of most of the online viewing services is that you may not see all of your "AR" credit inquiries so you know who is checking up on you and how often (and maybe without even a permissible purpose).

You may also need that paper copy to file a lawsuit in the latter case.

And let's just say that paying these shysters for your "credit score" is even dumber than paying Chase 29.99% interest.

I got the exact same message from Equifax at annualcreditreport.com. I know I answered the identifying questions correctly. Over a year ago I requested an online report fron Equifax through annualcreditreport.com with no problems. I didn't have a problem with TransUnion or Experian. Don't know what gives.

Magyar - my daughter (age 21) a few months back had the exact same thing occur to her. For some reason, they are probably doing it for security reasons. She just filled out the form and attached the requested information and her report was sent to her quickly. As with you, she was able to print out the other two.

My problem and the OP's problem was with Equifax. I had no problem getting my Experian report.

The first time I tried to pull reports from annualcreditreport.com there was one of the three that I couldn't get the security answers right on. Probably Equifax, but I can't recall now. The old way of getting copies of your reports was to request in writing, and as long as you follow their instructions, it should work just fine. Yes, it's annoying. I seem to recall that when I finally saw the report, they had an error in a street name or something that made it so when I gave the right answer, it looked wrong to them. I would rather them err on the side of more security rather than less.
Scared to file. Scared not to file.
