    Legal Helpers??

    Hi all,

Alright, so I finished my debt sheet last weekend, sent in all my documents and the Final payment in a certified check in full yesterday to Legal Helpers in Seattle. Maybe I should have done this before but I decided to do a search today on this forum to see what experiences others have had with them. Seems like there are many disgruntled clients of theirs here and some happy ones. So now I'm second guessing myself....sheesh as if I don't have enough problems already. My initial feeling for my attorney at our 1st meeting was a good one. i wasn't pressured and she seemed very knowledgeable. I can usually reach her on the phone and she normally returns my phone calls, though she seems very busy. Always answers my emails within a day or so and sends me emails updating current situations. Sounds good right? Then I was reading on this forum that the attorney I met with isn't necessarily the attorney that handles my case, she is just a representative of Legal Helpers in my area. My impression from talking with her was that she will be the one handling my case.

Now most of the posts I read were from last year and the year before. Has anyone from my area had dealings with them lately? Should I be worried ??

Hey Gabriel we are in the process of using Legalhelpers and so far are very pleased with them. The first attorney we met with was a jerk! She was a rude butt, even had my wife crying. Every time we gave her an debt amount she would repeat it and say something smart like "theres no way they would have ever given you that much credit! She said we didn't qualify for a 7, she said we had to go with a 13 and our payment would be something around $700 - $800 a month. Then we met with our attorney from legalhelpers and he said we could do a 7 no problem. So far we are down to about 20 days from being discharged.
Legalhelpers has its pros and cons - The one thing I didn't like was, you don't get your local attorney's phone number, after the process starts you can't call them directly. But the plus side, anytime you call their 800 number you will always speak with a knowledgeable paralegal that can answer just about any question you have, if not they will pass the information on to your attorney.
We were worried about representation at our 341 meeting. Our 341 was almost 2 hrs from our attorney's office, we were afraid they would just hire some local Joe to show up, but they didn't. Actually our attorney showed up early and did an excellent job. He took the time to brief us about what we should and should not do and say in our 341. I felt sorry for some of the other people we were sitting with, they were supposed to be represented by a local well known attorney. They kept pacing around trying to call their attorney, right before time to go in, some guy showed up in casual clothes and introduced himself as a fill-in for their attorney. He was not an attorney, he was just somebody that was an office worker there at the building where the 341 was being held. He said they're attorney was busy and the 341 was nothing to worry about. After watching him with the other people, I'm sure those people would all do it differently if they had known how it was going to turn out. Our attorney drove 2 hrs and looked and acted very professional, and we probably paid a whole lot less.
    Good Luck

Thanks a ton for the feedback Dennis, really appreciate it. My attorney is pretty awesome as well. Gave me her work number and all. Very good at getting back to me, telling me when she is out of the office and when not available, no pressure from her at all. I called them up this morning and they told me that they received all my paperwork yesterday and in she is in fact doing all my paperwork.

Just a good feeling to know that others are using their service with positive feedback !!!
