    BK up 30% from last year

    If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

    I think it will get worse before it gets better.

    September 4th, 2007: Discharged and Closed.

      JRScott - to which are you referring, the hurricane, the bankruptcies, or the call for the body powder?

        I can't believe how bad you guys are getting hammered down there. I wish you all the best in riding this all out and cleaning up!

              To the increase in BK.

              I don't think its over. Due to the housing collapse I think we'll see more defaults on credit cards which will lead to even more bankruptcies. I also do not think the housing crisis is over.

              Far to many Americans (myself incl) have borrowed against a future they cannot earn. This is true both of American households, American Corporations and American Government.

              As tax revenues dry up many municipalities and county governments most likely will also enter bankruptcies in 2009 and 2010. It is possible that even state governments might seek bankruptcy, it certainly isn't inconceivable.

              The Federal Government if they bail out Freddie and Fannie will be on a path to full bankruptcy within 10-15 years. Even if they don't without major reforms to entitlement programs they'll be bankrupt in 20-25 years.

                I don't miss hurricanes at all. AC/ACH stay safe. And I like the red wine part. LOL

                I do believe more people will be filing BK's before it is all said and done. And the BK's will come from all classes.
