    can't get rid of car

Prior to bankruptcy I had taken a $5000 loan against a vehicle, So now Bank of america has the title. BofA Never came to take the vehicle from me after bankruptcy. They've never tried to collect the remain $3000 either. I now have a vehicle with over 300,000 miles that barely runs and I want to sell/donate/give away this car but I don't have the title. BofA won't give it to me unless I pay them and they said they don't want the car either. So I am stuck here I don't know what to do.

    Any suggestions?

I'll take it as a gift What exactly are you trying to do...sell a car with out the title?

I can't sell it or donate it or anything. The DMV won't give me the title because BofA is still the leinholder. I don't want the care anymore though. I don't drive it and it's taking up space.
I wouldn't mind leaving the keys in it and walking away but I want to be responsible about it.
even if I do make it mysteriously disappear I'd still have to pay the registration and insurance on it each year.

By experience, you can go to a metals place (junk yard), have it weighed and by the pound sell it. I did this in FL to three junkers. Part it out on eBay if you have the time. Do you have the words in writing that they do not want the car? Go for a salvage Title if needed. Got a buddy with a BIG saw? Cut the D thing up. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

yes i could cut it up or drive it off a cliff or sell it to the junk yard, but in CA they want a title otherwise I would be able to sell your car to the junkyard. When you get rid of a car sell destroy or whatever, you need to send in a release of liability other I have to pay the vehicle registration each year. I don't beleive i can be released of the liability because there is a leinholder on the car.

If they have the title they own the car. I would drop it off in their parking lot and hand over the keys. If they don't take the keys put them in an envolope and shove them in the night deposit box.

I would tell them to come get the car or leave it at the bank.

Can you not give it to a family member or a trusted friend that may want or need it ?

Sure I could do that, but only if they wanted a lawn ornament. It barely runs just sitting in my driveway

I agree, I would make a formal DROP OFF.. at a branch, to a manager with the keys and a letter explaining the situation. Ask for your name to be released from the title, if they won't do this then ask for an explanation in writing as to why you cannot obtain because the car is in their possession now.
