Anyone voluntarily change jobs during bk?

I was wondering if anyone out there has voluntarily left a job for another in themiddle of bankruptcy? (i.e., after filing but before the 341 meeting and or/disharge)?

I know I should be grateful to have any job, but I am very unhappy and stressed out at mine. I won't go into great detail but I work in a call center andit is really getting to me...the worst part is I am being micromanaged to death...have to ask permission to use the restroom, get a drink of water, etc. Must take 100+ calls a day...etc. I took this job a little over a year ago...I was getting back into the workforce after staying home with my daughter...we needed 2 incomes...and this was the best offer I could get at the time.

I really want to try to find another job. Of course, I would not quit until I had something lined up, but do you think this is too risky? THe job market is really bad right now, and I may even have to take a pay cut (by 1.00 to 1.50 an hour)...would I be crazy to do this?

IT's just that I hate hate hate this job and it is starting to make me even more stressed out than the bk.

i would think that you should be able to change jobs post filing without any issues; if you were to get a much higher paying job it might affect how the trustee views your case; but if you get the same or slightly lower wage, you should be able to continue with your bk without any hiccups.

remember bk is protection for you, to relieve you of the burdens of unmanageable debt and financial crisis. if your job is not helping your stress level, you have every right to switch jobs; there's nothing saying you can't or shouldn't.

The only time switching a job post-filing can be an issue would be if there is a significant increase/decrease in your income.

If there is not a HUGE increase in income, then go for it. Even if it was, just hold off on the start date until fter the 341. They should allow you to give your present employer 2 weeks notice any way. Also, I know about the stress. I just recently switched my job. I was working in public accounting, and busy season pushed me over the edge. Sounds like you need a new job before the stress gets too much to handle. Good luck.

I worked at a call center for a while. It definitely is not for everyone and is very stressful. If you can find something else, I would recommend it. If there is a temporary staffing service in your area you might want to put in an application there. Usually those services are actually seeking to place their applicant in a full-time position. The plus side of this is its lets you and a prospective employer 'try each other on for size' as it were. The down side is that it might NOT lead to full time employment.
