Bad Day

What a day. I wish I could just start it over, One of my best friends from high school lost her husband today to bone cancer. He was 47. I live 8 hours away, I can't afford the gas to go to the funeral.

Plus we are waiting to file BK. Most likely 13. We are waiting for some big overtime to fall away from the 6month lookback. Wouldn't you know it my hubby gets a .90 cent an hour raise and his safety bonus. So he made $100 more than he usually does. I swear we are never going to be able to afford this bankruptcy.I can just picture getting a 500 payemnt or something because of the overtime, that has no by the way been cut!!!! I do have the money saved for the attorney. But I am starting to have those bad feelings in my stomach again.

Hang in there...So sorry to hear about your friend's hubby, he was so young too!

We are starting the ch 13 process, I just turned in the paperwork Monday and I'm hoping for the best. Isn't is sad when we get bummed out over a pay raise because of bankruptcy? My hubby got a $5,000 bonus sign on (that we used to pay credit cards! I wished I would have saved that for the attorney!) in Dec, so we are waiting for that to fall off too.

Try not to stress, it will work out (somehow).

Mom2one, I'm sorry to hear about your friend's husband. Keep in mind that we can only do the best we can and things will get better. Don't give up and keep fighting. Trust me, you guys will be fine in the end. You have one huge hurdle overcome by having the money for the lawyer. It will all work out for you. Good luck.

Thanks Liz, I am trying to hang in there, its hard sometimes. I feel like we are going to get a payment we cannot afford. We were trying so hard to make the minimums on the credit cards, and my husband worked all the overtime he could. Then it was cut! I am preparing for the worst hoping for the best. This was our 1st month on cash only. Doing an envelope system. Not going anywhere these days do to the high cost of gas. But its nice to have cash to buy groceries.

Thanks for writing. its been a very trying day. I keep breaking out the calculator and going over expenses. UGH.... I have no problem with a payment as long as we can afford it. And we can't put off filing for much longer, will probably be in September or October.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I plan on sending her a handwritten card. I have no idea what to even say. She is way to young to be going through this. We are both only 39. Bother of her parents are gone as well.

That is an awful day
Just remember after your BK is settled - and you start to rebuild, you will be in a better position to have the gas money for things like this.
And your friend will really need to see you in the near future - not necessarily for the funeral. Lots of people will be there for that. It's what happens after that I think is so hard.
Also, knowing someone so young passed away really puts things in perspective. Money isn't everything.

Mom2one, very sorry to hear of your friends loss. I also understand how something like this can add to the emotional rollar coaster you are already on with the bk. A few weeks after we realized we had to file my best friend of over 30 years called to tell me his wife of over 20 years (also a good friend) had committed suicide. The dispair passes, things will begin to look brighter. Stay strong, keep the faith.
