Finding People who have filed in your district

Some research I did was to go to 341 hearings and watch the trustees and attorneys. We found our attorney this way. You can also look up BK cases at the courthouse where you are filing since it is public information. I found our courthouse information on the web. I was able to read through many bankruptcy cases and look at facts that occurred in similar cases. You would probably get better information that way anyway.

I was so shocked at the reaction to my question that I started to write a reply before I even read all of them! I thought the purpose of these forums was to HELP each other. I thought a support group of local people whom have filed in the same district would be a good idea! It was never my intent to invade anyone's privacy and anyone I would contact would be from public information such as the local phone directory. Thank you to all who are giving me support!

Oh, no Ben-- I think you took these replies all wrong! It IS helpful that people are pointing out to you something you may do that, IMO, could very well cause you more stress and bad feelings than you already have.

Think about it, if you went through something very devastating and embarrassing in your life (BK or whatever), how would you feel if a stranger came to your door asking you to relive all that again on the spot? It does seem pretty invasive.

As you can see, there are a lot of people on this forum that are in similar situations, places, etc. that can help you - plus keep anonymity. In defense of everyone that responded, we're just trying to help, that's all.
