I think some of these celebrities are crazy and don't think straight after a while. Animals as pets are innocent and are to be protected and cared for properly. That means good training and responding to their needs as dogs first then pets.

I live in a condo and there is a pit-bull living here (not how insurance allows it) but she is a gorgeous chocolate dog who is very friendly. Too bad others have ruined the breed.
The money we borrowed from the Chinese and spent on Chinese goods? Whose economy did we really stimulate....

A consumer society cannot survive. We did not become a principally consumer society until after WWII. The Roman Empire fell because it became a consumer society, Rome itself got to the point that it made nothing, all it did was consume and when the barbarians came it was ill prepared to take care of itself.

I think Vick was probably participating in dog fighting long before he became a celebrity and eventually was earning enough money to do it on a bigger/badder scale. He probably grew up with it.

I sincerely hope he learns soon what it feels like to be somebody's B***H.

        Exactly!!

That is the part that pisses me off, people get all on the band wagon when it's a high profile person and once the sentence is given they all crawl away not to be heard from again. I don't see any of the people that were protesting at the courthouse everyday anywhere on TV fighting the cause.

And there are many people still dog fighting and some of the ones so called against it are making money from it. And to think that only people like Vick are involved is to be naive.

I think everyone that is involved should be punished not just the one they want to make an example of.

Vick is doing what too many people in this country are doing secretly. None of them are/were multi-million dollar sports celebrities.

So my question is, where are all these protesting against animal cruelty people now? I don't see anyone making people more aware or trying to send others to jail.

And before you even ask, yes I have dogs and my brother has pits. And I have never hurt anything in my life.

And as for torture and killing, anyone that has read up or been against dog fighting knows that the dogs do get tortured and some do die. The same happens with roosters.
Pit Bulls do not make the media unless it is a "pitbull ate child" case or a famous person as Vick torturing and fighting pitties.

There are tons of people protesting against animal cruelty. The media could careless about the dogfighting going on so you never see the protestors..they are out there.

I have had 4 pitbulls since my husband and I started dating. I believed all the hype about these dogs being "man eaters" until I got my first one. These dogs are the most wonderful dogs I have ever had. Never ever had them even think about biting a person. My one year old and son and my 5 year old pittie are buddies.

          Just my .02

I agree. I wish people would realize that dog fighting is out there. It is in your town more than likely. The word needs to get out and we need to get these poor innocent dogs out of these monsters hands...but that is another forum I guess lol
