Can I include final power bill in BK?

I am surrendering my home in Ch 7. I filed June 11, 2008 and moved into a rental on the 19th. I had my utilities transferred to my new address. My question is; can I include my final utility bills from the old address in the BK? My new address has different account numbers from my utilities. Could they charge a deposit on my new address after service has already started? My final power bill is over $500. The house is empty and utilities have been cut off at that address.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Utilities in BK

Yes you can. I had an electric bill over $1,000 that included in my BK and it was discharged May2008.

If it is with the same power company they will close your account and open a new account. They will require probably a substantial deposit. However yes you can do so. If they are separate power companies then it would not affect your current electric account.

I have first hand experience with this one. I BK'd an electric bill for my business of over $1000, but my residential service was always current and paid on time. When they received the notice that I filed, they sent me a letter stating that I was required to pay a new $350 deposit to keep my residential service. In order to guarantee they got their money, they closed my existing account and assigned me a new account number with the $350 tacked on to it. Luckily I was able to work out payment arrangements to get them paid, but it was an eye opening experience to say the least. I felt like they were kicking me when I was down.

Anyway, if you don't owe them a ton of money, I would advise against BKing them because they CAN charge you a huge deposit, but I understand if it is unavoidable because I didn't and still don't have $1000 to pay them. Also keep in mind I BK'd my business final electric bill and they charged a deposit on my residence. They could affect you by searching for services listed under your name and not strictly by the address.
