This stinks, I really want to check up on the attorney we are going to see on the 23rd. We are not using our CC anymore so I can't check PACER. Can anyone else suggest another site I can check???
Thanks
Christine

Wonderful Attorney! Just trying to get through the 5 years!!
Have you tried just googling his name with the city and state where he practices? I do that all the time from work to find attorneys in other states when I don't have their contact information and I always get more than I ask for as to their cases, etc.!

You should be able to access Pacer for free at your nearest BK court house (or in some places the library)

I think what Mom2one means is that she needs a credit card to access pacer to obtain information. The site is not for free for that information. You need a credit card for access to information. I don't think the BK court or local libraries have free Pacer accounts for public use so correct me if I am wrong on that!

Flamingo, it's true: many federal courthouses -- mine included -- and a handful of schools have free PACER access, open to the public. They charge for copies of anything, but the PACER itself is free. So what you do is run all your searches there, and then write down case # and name for anything you want a copy of so you can pull up just *that* case at home. I spent several hours down at the courthouse doing nothing but PACER -- it was a godsend for me.
Also, you do not need a credit card for PACER. If I remember correctly, you can register to be billed by mail (it's once a quarter, and then only if you run up more than $10 in that billing period). The downside is that they snail mail your login ID and password if you register this way, but you don't need a credit card.
And of course, once you've filed, checking your acct is very cheap: pull up your case, look for last filing date, and if it's unchanged since your last visit you know nothing new has been filed on your case. Mom2one should call her district courthouse (the one where she will be filing) and see if they have PACER access open to the public, and also check out the various billing options for PACER. Good luck!!!
Nolo Press book on filing Chapter 7, there are others too. (I have no affiliation with Nolo Press; just a happy customer.) Best wishes to you!

Thanks. I never registered on Pacer (viewed it several years ago during first years after filing but saw you needed a credit card at that time, which may have changed from then to now, so did not register) and also since our attorney and Trustee sent us stuff all the time (I had a fantastic attorney and trustee as I have stated on here in the past and received quarterly printouts from both as to our filing as to receipts/disbursements). So we never needed an additional source to check on things. The above is great information for those that may have had to eliminate internet access costs and live close by to the Courthouse.
