    PO Box

I use a PO box as my mailing address, was wondering how many others do the same.

I rarely use my physical address for anything.

We use our PO box also. We very rarely give the physical address, though its easy enough to get if anyone wants it. They can just do the work.

I'm curious, too. Is there a benefit to using a PO box or do you live in a remote area?

I live in the city and I have a mailbox at my house. I prefer to have my mail sent to the PO instead of the house, for security reasons.

We have a po box that we pay $24 a year for. I like if for doing online freebies. It allows me to get double rebates and double anything that is "one per mailing address". It pays for itself in less than a month.

We also use ours for selling and buying on Ebay. Although we rarely do that anymore.

All my regular mail come to my house though.

Lol, I have a PO Box cause I used to work for a ticket broker. Sometimes there were limits to how many tix you could buy. I had a separate PO Box and CC in DH's name so I could get more tix. My normal mail comes to my home address though.

                      Hi All:

In our case, the postal box is a status / vanity / heirloom matter. My mother and grandmother were Postmasters at our particular post office. Also, my Dad worked there as a clerk before and after they married. When it became known that our community was slated for a brand new state-of-the-art post office building (1961-62) instead of being moved from one ramshackle tin building to the next, and would be getting all new equipment, my parents celebrated by selecting their very own PO Box number. Guess what the number is? Those who said #1 are absolutely correct. The community patrons were invited to select their favorite numbers as well, but Mama and Daddy had dibs on #1.

They are long passed on now to the next life, but ACH and I keep and pay the box rent religiously every year. Mama was Postmaster there for 32 years, and had worked there with her mother for ten years prior to that.

It also is a matter of security. We live out in the country, and from time-to-time vandals go around trashing all the mailboxes in the area.

This is our reason as well although we recently moved but we kept the PO Box.

On my credit report, it shows one address as a P.O. Box. Some write to that P.O. Box, but I got a feeling if anybody wanted to go beyond the box, they can't. The P.O Box is my mother's and it is about 2500 miles away from where I live.

That would be so cool to have #1 as your box. Your story was sweet too.

                              PO Box
When we first moved to this town, we were on main street, but our community doesn't have house to house delivery of mail in the city limits. Then we moved " up on the highway" ( actually one of the major north south highways in my state). We now have a mailbox across the highway, but have kept the PO Box. I don't trust having anything delivered to it because of being on the busy highway. And I know for a fact mail has been stolen from my box. Once I was on my way to town, and looked at the mail. There was a letter to my son from a friend. For some reason I decided to leave the letter. When I came home, it was gone, but the kids had not checked the mail.

So anything important comes to the po box. But I will use my street box for freebies and coupons, using either DH's or DD's name .
