Question from a friend considering filing..............he has lived in Florida for 15 years and will be moving to Oklahoma very soon. He met with an attorney and was ready to file Chapter 7 in Florida but told the attorney he would be moving to Oklahoma within the next 4 weeks, she said he could just file there. Don;t you have to be a resident for a certain amount of time before you can file in another state just moved to?

he can file in oklahama after he has been there for 91 days (the requirement is the greater part of 180 days, which come out to day 91 if there are only two states involved)....BUT he will have to use Florida exemptions for a longer period. (I need to look that up...but is quite a while I think..)Chapter 7 Pro Se....Discharged Feb. 2006
