Realistically, nobody is going to worry about what you spent $66 on at any stage of your bk. You're discharging 10's of thousands of dollars worth of debt and paid +$1500 for the privilege. In the overall picture, this expenditure is nothing. I'd buy the tickets and go whenever I wanted to.

You bk estate is everything in your estate up to the day you filed - first.

Secondly - I would buy those tickets and enjoy yourselves! It is not a large enough amount to worry about. Now if you were saying you were going on a cruise, costing thousands - that would be another story.

        Go and have fun!

If you need a credit card, why not go to Walmart and buy one of their preloaded credit cards?
That's exactly what I was thinking. If it's something you don't want your trustee to see, then pay with cash or a preloaded cc.

Is this a private or public school?
If it's public, I've never heard of paying for summer school.

I didnt think anything of it when the OP mentioned having to pay for summer school. We have to pay for summer school in our district Also. I think its more the norm nowadays. If your in a district that doesnt charge an extra fee consider yourself lucky or check the breakdown in your school taxes. Chances are pretty good that summer classes are not included in the 'free' yearly public schooling but additional cost added on somewhere.
There are some programs over the summer that are free for the elementary aged children but over 5th grade..chaaaa ching! not to mention busing is not provided in the summer either.

The school my children go to is public(HS), but it seems more like private school. We pay for everything that they are involved in except for summer school.

I didn't know public schools charged for summer school. I know when the kids were in private school, we had to pay for it.

Yes, my kids go to public school. I just found it today, she passed English with flying colors!! Yahooo! Barely passed all year long, then Aced her final exam.

AtWitsEnd - $350 for summer school, that's tough! Oh the stuff we do for our kids.

As for the tickets, I'll get them after our 341 and ask my mom and dad to pay for our hotel stay for my birthday present.

I guess I kind of look at it as something I love and need for my sanity...kind of like my flower beds! I didn't hesitate when it came to buying some flowers. I also didn't hesitate paying $100 for my daughter to go to summer school so she can go to the next grade (yes, she's my nightmare child).

As for our filing, we're definately below the median, not even close for it to be an issue. I'll talk to my attorney and see what she says.
I don't know about the tickets, to me that isn't such a big deal, but others seem to think it's risky. I agree call the attorney. Far as flower beds, I bought flowers too. We haven't filed yet, should be soon. Matter of fact I used some of the stimulus to make my yard pretty. Not a ton of money, but some. I wish you luck and hopefully you'll get to go to Cedar Point before summers over!

I agree. You aren't talking about a big vacation costing thousands of dollars, it's a couple tickets for $66, that to me is very fair for one day of fun. We are allowed entertainment in our BK, so why not justify it that way? It honestly just seems like a small amount for any trustee to fight you over. If your below the median income already, seems like it would be alright. Go and enjoy your little get away.
