US Trustee wants a meeting

My husband has filed Chapter 7, had the meeting, the trustee sent a final letter for what he wants from us money wise. Now our attorney says the US TRUSTEE wants to do a deposition on my husband. According to the attorney, this only happens when they think you lied or are hiding something or whatever. But we have told them everything and filled out all our paperwork correctly, so we don't know what it could be.

Has anyone else ever experienced this or know anything about it??

I mean, we don't have anything but our house and the two cars we own (that both have over 200,000 miles), so we are lost. Plus, why wait so long, the paperwork was almost done.

Any help would be great!

Do you have high debt with few assets? That could be the issue. Are you over the median? It could be many things.

Ask the attorney if this is a Rule 2004 examination. It sounds like it. If so, search for my "Holy crappin' crap" thread. It explains my experience in March.

That is the first thing I thought of but it could be many things. Perhaps the income to debt ratio or they just want to dig a little deeper to see if a 13 will work?

It is not uncommon in high debt or high income cases. So long as you have been truthful things should be okay.

i just did a deposition yesterday, we had high income with high debt and medical problems...trustee was super nice guy...asked questions for about 2 hrs...like tell me how u got to this point...what did u spend your money on...bout you job ..expenses etc...after all was over he told my lawyer he was going to recommend to have our case discharged...now we wait and see what the panel of trustee decide
