Question Filed non-joint BK & am authorized user of my spouse's card

Hello, I filed Chpt 7 in January and in March I asked my husband if I could have a one of his credit cards in my name for gas purchases, etc. to use in between checks. He provided NO SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER and no other information besides my name to the financial institution. Well...I just recently pulled my credit report and his credit card account shows up on MY credit report. I called the credit card financial institution and they said they just find my social security number and match it with my name as I live in the same home.
Anyway...I looked up online and found that my negative credit (BK) will show up on HIS credit report as a negative collection/filing because I am an authorized user. I am so upset as my husband DID NOT file BK and he is getting denied credit for my BK! When I found this out, I immediately canceled my authorized card, but my question is --- Has this caused irreparable damage or will the negative impact be erased because I removed my authorized card and am no longer linked to his account? Should I call the credit bureau/reporting agencies? Any help would be wonderful. This is such a great site. Thank you!!

He will have to dispute it.

And did you think being an auth. user meant you just got the card and they didn't report the info?

no, my niece was an auth user on my acct, she was 17 - it never showed up on her credit report, they didn't link it with a soc security number

Married credit reports are tied together in some states. Maybe all of them. I know that nearly all of my husbands accounts are on mine and vice versa. Even ones that I'm not an authorized user on.

I also believe that the assets of married couples are viewed as being owned by both regardless of who's name it is in.

IMO if a bankruptcy was filed while a couple is married it will affect them both even if only one spouse files for bankruptcy.

So the rule that says a married couple doesn't have to file bk jointly seems strange to me since so many things may be linked regarding their financial life.

Please chime in on whether I'm right or wrong because I am no expert.

This post is incorrect. As to the credit reporting issues-the 3 CRA's settled a classaction lawsuit in 04 dealing with reporting bk's on loint accounts where one account holder did not file.
If your bk has migrated over to your husbands report, he needs to start disputing at once. The only thing of yours that should show on his report are joint accounts.

The OP's post is confusing. She says:

Did you actually pull his report and see what's on there? Or, did you just find some info on a message board?

Thank you for setting me straight on this one. And my apologies if I made anyone concerned.
